Where engineering judgment determines that slow speeds on a highway might impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic, the Minimum Speed Limit sign may be installed below a Speed Limit R2-1 sign to indicate the minimum legal speed. If desired, these two signs may be combined on the R2-4a sign
At least once every 5 years, States and local agencies should reevaluate non-statutory speed limits on segments of their roadways that have undergone a significant change in roadway characteristics or surrounding land use since the last review.
No more than three speed limits should be displayed on any one Speed Limit sign or assembly.
When a speed limit is to be posted, it should be within 10 km/h or 5 mph of the 85th-percentile speed of free-flowing traffic.
For speeds 25 MPH and under an 18x24 Speed Limit sign should be used. If the speed is greater than 25 MPH a 24x30 Speed Limit sign should be used.
Speed Limit signs are manufactured with .080 aluminum and are available with the following reflective sheeting options:

3. Diamond Grade reflective sheeting (DG) - 12 year warranty
